Language Assessment


The Canadian Language Benchmarks Placement Test (CLBPT) is designed to determine at what level you should begin your LINC program. It measures abilities in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. For example, if you score benchmark 3 in each of these skills, you are ready to start the program at LINC level 4. 

The LINC assessment is only for the purpose of placement into the LINC program. It is not accepted by CIC as proof of language ability for citizenship applications. For this, you can take our LINC classes in Langley and receive a certificate once you have attained the required Canadian Language Benchmarks. 

Citizenship Act: 

(In October 11, 2017, some changes to the Citizenship Act as a result of Bill C-6 became law): Applicants between the ages of 18 and 54 must meet basic knowledge and language requirements. This is aimed at ensuring that more new citizens are better prepared for life in Canada.A CLB 4 - Listening and Speaking is required in order to apply.

 

To obtain an online assessment during Covid, come to New Directions and complete an application form. Please, bring your Permanent Resident Card, or any documents showing your Permanent residency Status (Example:Landing Document)
